Other Buildings in the Village of Hohenfelden

The Brewhouse

The Brewhouse

The brewhouse, a modest half-timbered building, dates largely from the 18th century. It consists of two parts: on the right is the former malt kiln, which today hosts a permanent exhibition on brewing in Thuringia. The left part is the actual brewhouse, faithfully restored and re-equipped with brewing utensils. Here, our Brewing and Cultural Association demonstrates traditional brewing methods several times a year.

South of the brewhouse stands the day laborer’s house, built at the beginning of the 19th century for land-poor residents of Hohenfelden. Today, it houses a rural shoemaker’s workshop.

Right next door is our medium-sized farmstead, consisting of a farmhouse, two barns, two stable buildings, and a dovecote. Here you can also meet our Steinbach fighting geese and Thuringian dwarf bearded chickens.
