The special exhibition “Text. Sound. TV.” focuses on the history of mass communication. Communication has always been essential for human survival – whether for interpersonal exchange or for sending messages to people living far away.

The exhibition traces the development from the invention of the printing press to the digital revolution of the internet. It also presents the various tools and technologies that have been used to reach large audiences – ranging from newspapers and radio to television and the mobile phone.

The objects on display come from the collections of the Thuringian Open-Air Museum Hohenfelden as well as from selected lenders.

Visitors will even have the opportunity to type their own text on an Erika 10 typewriter (built in 1958).
