On the first Sunday in September, the 16th Thuringian Cheese and Delicacies Market will take place at the Thuringian Open-Air Museum Hohenfelden on the museum grounds “Am Eichenberg” from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The market is dedicated entirely to homemade cheeses and other regional specialties. Farm dairies from all regions of Thuringia will offer their unique creations. The variety is impressive: each dairy has its own “secret recipes,” using different herbs and spices. From the milk of sheep, goats, cows, and even buffalo, both fresh and hard cheeses are made.

The cheese selection is complemented by a wide range of other Thuringian delicacies, including Thuringian liqueurs, Eichsfeld sausage specialties, and honey from local beekeepers.

In addition to grilled sausage and soups, visitors can look forward to a variety of cheese-based dishes.

Younger guests can enjoy listening to a storyteller sharing magical tales.
